INVADING UKRAINE: PUTIN DONS RHETORIC OF ANTI-ISRAEL JIHAD, IMPLICITLY THREATENS ABRAHAM ACCORDS

PUTIN RHETORIC RINGS ALL TOO FAMILIAR: "UKRAINE IS NOT A COUNTRY... IS ENGAGED IN GENOCIDE... IS RULED BY NAZIS...  MUST BE LIBERATED FROM OCCUPATION... IS A PUPPET OF THE DECADENT WEST.."

THE ONLY EXPLICIT WORDS NOT SPOKEN...  "UKRAINE'S 'ILLEGITIMATE' LEADER IS A JEWISH MONKEY-PIG-DOG."

Putin rhetoric behind the Russian invasion of Ukraine must be seen for the anti-semitic play that it is, seeking not only to undermine the democratic inspiration of Ukraine, but, also to lynch Israel's success and Jewish success in the global world; and, Ukraine is the linchpin of Putin's design to see, born again, the wheels of Russian world power.

Although at the local level the present conflict in Ukraine may be perceived as a civil war between divergent branches of the Kievan Rus tree of life; and, although sorting out legitimate claims of Ukrainian and Russian perspectives may be a challenge; the significance of the present conflict to the larger world must not be ignored; most especially it cannot be ignored by Israel.

The unmistakeabley anti-semitic, anti-Israel rhetoric of Putin tolls so loudly that many may not recognize it; the resounding noise may register only subliminally, a drone-like background noise so relentlessly present that it is overlooked and ignored or blocked out by natural auditory defenses.

Putin's rhetoric has just put Israel on notice that all bets are off with respect to any future positive relationship with Russia; and, Putin's rhetoric has at least made a play for Arab sympathy.  It is not impossible that both the Arabs and Iranians already are waiting in the wings to protect Putin's back.

Anti-semitic Europe is already paranoid of Arabs from within and of Russians from without, needing Arabs and Russians for economic reasons, reluctant to be torn apart by war, and of questionable security value to European Jewish citizens or to Israel.  Anti-semitism in the US is on the rise, and the Biden Administration has withdrawn US favor for the development of an Israel-Europe natural gas pipeline.

The present threat posed (by Putin's vision for a Greater Russia) to future positive Israeli relations with Europe as well as to the Abraham Accords is too palpable to ignore.  Western sanctions of Russia may easily crumble in the face of Russia's present large financial reserves and the capacity of finance in the Muslim world to bypass western markets to engage the possible benefits of business with Russia.  Given the risks, Israel, the US, and NATO must find a way to protect Ukraine from Putin, and to do so while avoiding nuclear war or even extensive conventional war.
